Art Direction & Photography for cover of ELLE Magazine
Dutch ELLE Magazine commissioned Thomas Voorn to create a spin-off from his Garment Graffiti letters mixed with his Herbarium print designs. The briefing was to replace the cover logo letters by exactly the same ones but made of greenery in 3D, to suit that month's theme. After a pitch of more then ten different styles of letters as sketches, the editors chose the hay letters. These were fine tuned and photographed again by Voorn, and published on the cover of the May issue. ELLE pitched to use the letters again on another cover a year later, this time it became runner up.. but the fashion director loved it. A few examples of the ELLE letter sketches are shown here, as well as the published cover letters and the cover that became runner up.
